Food Systems Tech
Challenges That Became Our Inspiration
Food Systems Tech arrived at Jupitr with a platform that was technically solid but increasingly difficult to grow. Built on Laravel, the site demanded developer involvement every time the FST team needed to add a new innovation profile, update a domain page, or expand into new content areas. With the platform’s scope widening — covering plant nutrition, sustainable livestock, and next-generation crops across dozens of innovation entries — the content management burden was becoming a real bottleneck.
The visual design also needed a refresh to match the platform’s ambition: a rigorous, evidence-based knowledge portal designed for funders, researchers, policymakers, and innovators worldwide. The challenge was to modernise the look and feel without losing the credibility and depth the platform had already built.
From Brainstorming to Beautiful Execution
We migrated the entire platform from Laravel to WordPress, unlocking full content independence for the FST team. Where the previous build required developer involvement for most updates, the WordPress backend now lets the FST team publish new innovation profiles, manage domain sections, and expand the platform without touching a line of code.
Because Food Systems Tech isn’t a conventional website — it hosts multiple distinct content types, from innovation deep-dives and expert bios to interactive maps and FAQ sections — we built a multi-template architecture. Each page type received its own custom template, designed to accommodate the unique structure and hierarchy of that content without forcing everything into a single rigid layout.
Post-launch, we transitioned into an ongoing SEO maintenance retainer to build on the platform’s organic visibility.
The Results
The SEO maintenance work following launch has produced measurable, compounding gains.
The FST team now manages and expands the platform independently — a direct result of the move to WordPress — while Jupitr continues to support long-term search performance through the ongoing retainer.
